Despite the intense pandemic, Chinese steel production has experienced limited impact. Most manufacturers have completed their blast furnace maintenance close to the end of the year, expecting normal operation.

From the most recent investigation, 25 of 28 steel mills claimed to have not been impacted by the pandemic, 1 manufacturer stated the pandemic has impacted its production, and the 2 remaining mills did not respond to the investigation.

A northeast manufacturer experienced a 30-40% positive rate in their workers, and other manufacturers in East China and North China adopted new approaches, alternating shifts to maintain production capacity.

Logistics has suffered from a lack of truck drivers, resulting in issues in raw material supply for steel production. Manufacturers are working on increasing the number of available drivers to ensure normal delivery.
