It was reported that more than 15 US aluminum companies wrote to US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on July 25 to seek the issue of continuous exemption of 232 tariffs on the North American aluminum industry.

According to the US, the imports of primary aluminum from Canada have surged; however, the import volume was in line with the historical record and basic market condition, according to the official statistics.
