US’ cold-rolled flat products imports hike in May

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 112,000 tons of cold-rolled flat products in May, rising by 54% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 0.8% from the same month a year earlier.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 39,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 9.3% and a year-on-year increase of 70.1%. Other import sources included Mexico (around 15,600 tons), Australia (around 10,700 tons), South Korea (around 8,800 tons), and the Netherlands (around 7,700 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled US$121 million, up by 59.2% month on month and 47.2% year on year.
