US’ crude steel output in week ending May 28 increases

According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on May 28, the US’s production of crude steel was around 1.8 million net tons, increasing by 0.5% week on week but decreasing by 2% year on year.

During the period, the capacity utilization rate was 82.4%, a week-on-week increase of 0.4%, growing by 1.4% year on year.

As of May 28, 2022, the adjusted year-to-date output of the US’ crude steel was around 37.1 million net tons, dropping by 1.5% year on year. In terms of the capacity utilization rate, it was 80.6%, increasing by 1.9% year on year.
