US’ hot-rolled flat products imports hike in May

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 206,300 tons of hot-rolled flat products in May, rising by 0.6% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 88% from the same month a year earlier.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 124,300 tons, a month-on-month increase of 19.1% and a year-on-year hike of 194.9%. Other import sources included Turkey (around 23,600 tons), Japan (around 21,200 tons), South Korea (around 18,800 tons), and the Netherlands (around 9,000 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled around US$187 million, up by 5.13% month on month and surging by 204% year on year.
