US’ primary aluminum output increases in Q1

According to the Census Bureau data, the US produced a total of 241,000 tons of primary aluminum in the first quarter of this year, increasing by 4.78% from the previous quarter.

In March alone, the US’ primary aluminum output reached a record 84,000 tons, growing by 9,000 tons from the preceding month and the same month a year ago.

During the same month, the US’ secondary aluminum production was 290,000 tons, higher than the revised level in February and up by 3% year on year. Among them, 159,000 tons were from new scrap and 132,000 tons came from old scrap.
