Vietnam's leading miner, Vinacomin, announced a VND182 trillion investment to boost alumina-aluminum production, addressing the nation's surging demand for the metal. This allocation will fund two bauxite exploration projects and five refining projects in Dak Nong province's Central Highlands region.

Despite Vietnam's decade-long alumina production, concerns linger over pollution and electricity consumption. Vinacomin plans to elevate the Nhan Co Alumina complex's capacity from 650,000 tons to 2 million tons annually. Moreover, it aims to triple Dak Nong complex's capacity, targeting 2 million tons of alumina and 0.5-1 million tons of aluminum yearly.
