Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), Taiwan’s leading stainless steel mill, announced an increase in its stainless steel prices for September delivery, of which domestic price was hiked by NT$1,000-3,500/ton, and export price was increased by US$30-120/ton. The increase was a response to surging raw material costs.

Regarding the price adjustment this time, some market participants said the increase was reasonable, saying that the imported price of hot-rolled and cold-rolled raw materials continued rising, especially since the Taiwan dollar is depreciating. Therefore, a moderate increase is acceptable.
