Alcoa announces to close Spanish San Ciprian aluminum refinery

It was reported that Alcoa announced to close its San Ciprian aluminum refinery in Spain in the first quarter of 2021 in order to stop losses. Approximately 530 employees will be laid off, and around 100 employees will continue the operation at some facilities.

In the year ended September 30, the San Ciprian aluminum refinery had a net loss of around US$45 million, and the total net loss of 2018 and 2019 reached US$126 million.
