The ongoing strike by Spanish truckers has affected the overland transport of scrap, iron ore, and equipment, leading to a shortage of raw materials. Therefore, ArcelorMittal, the major European steel manufacturer, has recently suspended the operation of its three branch plants in Spain.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine made European energy prices soar, affecting post-pandemic economic recovery. In protest of soaring oil prices, the Spanish transportation industry protection platform organization called on the drivers of small transport trucks to launch an indefinite strike from March 14, affecting the supply of many domestic industries and livelihood supplies.
