Australia's Portland Aluminium completes restart of idle production capacity

Portland Aluminium, an aluminum smelter majority-owned by Alcoa of Australia, has completed the restart of 35,000 tons per year of idle capacity at its aluminum smelter in Victoria, Australia. Portland Aluminium’s current operating capacity reaches about 95% of its total capacity of 385,000 tons per year, with around 186,000 tons per year of Alcoa's consolidated capacity in operation.

Portland Aluminium Acting Operations Manager Mark Crespan said that the 40th pot at the No. 2 production line of the East project was the last one successfully energized, which was a result contributed by Australian and global experts.
