US’ crude steel production in week ending Dec 24 falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending December 24, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.614 million short tons, decreasing by 0.8% from the same period a week ago and by 8.7% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 72.3%, down by 0.6% week on week and by 7.8% year on year.

As of the week ending December 24, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to 87.605 million short tons, a year-on-year drop of 5.6%. The capacity utilization rate was 78.0%, a year-on-year reduction of 3.2%.
