British Steel starts £80 million investment in Scunthorpe plant

British Steel has invested £80 million in increasing its product range to enter new markets and optimize operational and environmental performance.

Approximately £48 million will be applied to construct a new billet caster at the company's plant in Scunthorpe. It will manufacture billets and start to operate at the end of the year.

Besides that, £32 million will be used for Scunthorpe Rod Mill‘s upgrade, and the reconfigured mill layout and equipment will be used in 2023.
