According to a report from China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, China faced a drop of 1.2 points of Chinese aluminum industry’s prosperity index in April, coming to 17.8 points, which was the lowest since the first report issued on November 12th, 2015.

The demand for primary aluminum in China will keep rising in the future months along with the recovery of economic activities. However, the prosperity index of China’s aluminum industry was expected to keep at a low level because the lasting period of the impact by the novel coronavirus epidemic on the downstream buyer’s aluminum demand outside China was still uncertain.
