China’s crude steel production grows in Q1 y-o-y on recovered economy

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China's crude steel production totaled around 95.7 million tons in March this year, up by nearly 7% compared to the same month a year ago. The production in the first quarter reached 261.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%, due to the recovered economy.

In March, China's pig iron and steel production was up by 7.3% and 8% year on year to 78.1 million tons and 127.3 million tons, respectively. In the January-March period, China’s pig iron and steel production grew by 7.6% and 5.8% year on year, reaching 219.8 million tons and 332.7 million tons, respectively.
