In June, China's domestic electrolytic aluminum production capacity saw a significant increase, primarily driven by the stable recovery of power supply in Yunnan and the ongoing resumption of remaining production capacity. The Huayun Phase III project in Inner Mongolia is also expected to commence operations, contributing to the expected rise in domestic built production capacity to 45.36 million tons. Currently, the operating production capacity stands at approximately 43 million tons and is forecasted to reach 43.27 million tons by the end of June. Monthly output is projected to hit 3.54 million tons.

Import data from China's customs indicates that from January to May, China imported about 1.1 million tons of electrolytic aluminum, a year-on-year hike of 177.23%. The open imports at the start of the year boosted these imports. Although the imports are narrowing, consistent monthly orders from Rusal are expected to limit the decline in imported aluminum ingots.
