According to statistics from Antaike, a Chinese state-owned research firm, as of the end of June of this year, China's primary aluminum production capacity was around 41.16 million tons per year, up by 3% compared to the same period a year ago. The operating capacity was roughly 36.91 million tons per year, a year-on-year increase of 1.19%.

The obvious increase in the production capacity showed that China’s primary aluminum production capacity was rapidly expanding from 2019 to 2020, while the growth in the operating capacity was relatively small due to a large reduction because of force majeure factors after July 2019, part of which hasn’t resumed yet.
