China’s stainless steel export performance keeps stable

According to Customs statistics, China’s stainless steel imports totaled around 137,000 tons in July, up by 15.9% compared to the previous month but falling by 23.3% from the same period last year.

During the period, China exported roughly 360,000 tons of stainless steel, a month-on-month increase of 4.8% and a year-on-year decrease of 13.5%.

In July, China’s net export volume of stainless steel was 223,000 tons, which has been above 200,000 tons for five consecutive months.

In the first seven months of this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to approximately 980,000 tons, down by 47.4% year on year. Exports were around 2.4 million tons, falling by 15.4% year on year.

China’s stainless steel prices continue to be strong at present, with a significant increase in transaction volume. It was estimated that China’s apparent consumption of stainless steel will reach around 2.87 million tons in August, a month-on-month increase of 40,000 tons.
