In March, China's stainless steel imports slipped down again to less than 124,000 tons, a notable decrease of 48.6% compared with the same month in the previous year. Meanwhile, exports increased sharply by 38% year on year, which reflected the fact that in March China's stainless steel inventory remained high and the market demand was low.

Statistics from China Customs revealed that in March of 2023, China imported only 123,300 tons and exported 349,400 tons of stainless steel during the same period.

From January to March, China imported 461,000 tons of stainless steel in total, 51.2% less than the first three months of the previous year.
