This year, the Chinese government carried out the policy of "dual control of energy consumption”, requesting all Chinese factories and mills to adjust their manufacturing operations. As a result, the production capacity of all manufacturers has been greatly reduced.

According to the report from Wood Mackenzie on November 12, 2021, the country’s overall aluminum capacity has been reduced by 7% so far. On the contrary, copper production, which is less energy intensive, has a better situation.

Last month, China’s power cuts relented, but power shortages did not relent in the month. According to some experts, the current situation will last until the summer of next year.
