Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)’s Al Taweelah alumina refinery has achieved Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard V2 (2017), which means that EGA's all global operations are certified to ASI standards.

EGA said that its refinery is one of the lowest greenhouse gas emitters among alumina smelters in the world. The company also carries out a responsible disposal process for bauxite ore residues, including reusing them as manufactured soil.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, said that certification to the ASI's performance standard is a transparent and independent verification of the company's commitment to sustainability. EGA’s next goal is to start manufacturing ASI-certified metals from next year and aims to produce ASI-certified metals only by 2030.
