Global alumina production grows in May

According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), the global alumina production reached 11.73 million tons in May, rising by 3.09% compared to the previous month while decreasing by 3.08% from the same month a year ago.

In May, China was the largest alumina producer, producing 6.6 million tons, up by 3.3% month on month and by 0.61% year on year.

In the first five months of this year, global alumina production amounted to roughly 56.22 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 2.5%. During the period, China’s alumina production was 30.8 million tons, down by 1.35% year on year.
