Global alumina production increases in May

According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global alumina production totaled 11.92 million tons in May this year, rising by 4.3% from the previous month but falling by 2.3% from the same month a year ago. The daily average production in May was 384,500 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 0.97%.

In May, alumina production in China was nearly 7 million tons, up by 3.34% month on month and down by 0.8% year on year.

In the first five months of this year, global alumina production amounted to approximately 56.72 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.99%. China’s output during the period was up by 4% year on year to 32.99 million tons.
