Global primary aluminum market has surplus of 319,000 tons in Jan-May

According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global primary aluminum market has a surplus of 319,000 tons in the first five months of this year, and the shortage in the whole year of 2021 was 1.844 million tons.

In the January-May period, the global demand for primary aluminum was 28.33 million tons, down by 462,000 tons from the same period in 2021.

The demand was calculated based on apparent data, and the COVID-19 blockage measures may affect trade statistics.
