Steel Dynamics, Inc., a US-based steel producer, planned to invest in building a recycled aluminum flat rolled mill with an annual production capacity of 650,000 tons in the southeastern US and two supporting satellite recycled aluminum slab centers in the southwestern US and north central Mexico.

The flat rolled mill’s products will meet the demand from beverage packaging, automotive, and common alloy industrial industries. Besides, a large amount of aluminum scrap will be used in this plant.

The flat rolled mill was scheduled to start operations in the first quarter of 2025, and the operations of the slab centers in the US and Mexico were expected by the end of 2025 and 2024, respectively.
