Global primary aluminum supply in short of 1.931 million tons in 2021

According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global shortage of primary aluminum totaled 1.931 million tons in 2021, compared to a surplus of 1.041 million tons in 2020.

The demand for primary aluminum in 2021 was 69.06 million tons, rising by 5.015 million tons compared to the previous year. The demand was calculated with the apparent data, and nationwide blockade measures might affect trade statistics.

During the given period, global aluminum production had a year-on-year growth of 3.1%.
