Global stainless steel melt shop production rise in Jan-Sep

According to statistics from the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), global stainless steel melt shop production amounted to 43 million tons in the first nine months of this year, hiking by 17% compared to the same period a year ago. The output from all regions had year-on-year increases.

During the period, the production from China, the largest stainless steel producer in the world, hiked by 8.8% year on year to around 28.8 million tons, the smallest increase compared to other regions.

The production from Asian countries, excluding China and South Korea, amounted to around 5.77 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 25.6%. The output from Europe was up by nearly 18% to 5.4 million tons, that from the US hiked by 16.1% to around 1.8 million tons, and that from other regions grew by 50% to roughly 6.14 million tons, all on a year-on-year basis.
