Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro announced that it has started the production of Hydro Circal aluminum ingots at its plant in Lucé, France. Hydro Circal is a low-carbon recycled aluminum product with a content of at least 75% post-consumer aluminum scrap.

The Lucé plant was expected to produce roughly 1,000 tons of Hydro Circal per year initially.

As one of three major initiatives in Hydro's climate strategy, the company targeted to increase the use of post-consumer aluminum scrap. By 2025, Hydro hoped to double the use, reaching more than 500,000 tons per year.
