Recently, UC Rusal, one of the biggest aluminum producers in Russia, held its meeting in Krasnoyarsk. At the conference, the group’s new climate strategy was approved by Rusal’s board of directors. The new climate goals are to reduce Rusal’s overall carbon emissions through 2050.

According to the strategy, over the next decade, both Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions would be cut by at least 25%. Advanced electrolysis technologies would be used to achieve this goal.

Besides, improving energy efficiency at all production stages, transferring its enterprises to carbon-free energy sources, and introducing the principles of a circular economy by expanding the use of aluminum scrap will also be applied to achieve these aims.
