The Indian government has decided to extend anti-dumping (AD) duties on certain steel products until December 15 this year so as to protect domestic manufacturers from being injured by cheap imports from some Asian countries.

Among them, the AD measures on hot-rolled flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel originating in or exported from China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, and Brazil, and cold-rolled flat products of alloy or non-alloy steel from China, Japan, and South Korea, have been extended to December 15, 2021.

These AD duties were levied in August 2016 for five years.

As the five-year imposition will expire this year, and the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has initiated a sunset review on the measures, but the determination of the investigations hasn’t been made.
