India and the UK started talks for a free-trade deal that may improve bilateral trade which was worth billions of US dollars.

British Secretary of State for International Trade, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, is now in New Delhi to meet with the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, and the talk will be started next week.

It was expected that both sides could be benefited from some industries. Also, according to a British government statement, the deal could help British to double its exports to India and boost two-way trade by US$38 billion a year by 2035.

Britain is also looking for cutting barriers for business and trading, including the removal of tariffs on UK-made vehicles and Scotch whisky.

The deal is expected to conclude by early next year. The figures of trade between the UK and India was US$15.45 billion from 2019 to 2020.
