India's crude steel output in the second quarter was around 31.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.2%, of which June's output increased by 11.5% year on year but decreased by 1.6% compared with May 2022.

The Indian government imposed 15% export taxes on some steel products, triggering production cuts.

For example, JSW shut down its Raigarh blast furnace due to export taxes.

As for the 11.5% year-on-year increase in June, it might be due to JSW's start of the second blast furnace at the Dolvi plant in Maharashtra on October 3, 2021, which doubled the Dolvi capacity to 10 million tons/year.
