Metro Mining Limited, an Australia-based exploration and mining company, said on October 18 that it has started to use a new floating crane, which will not only increase its bauxite exports but also lower discharge costs for customers and unit freight costs in the current overheated freight market.

The new floating crane made Metro Mining become the only bauxite exporter that can load Capesize vessels in Australia.

This TSA Skardon floating crane is located in the port of Weipa and will handle products from the Bauxite Hills project. It was expected to achieve 4 million wet tons of loading capacity per year.
