Alro Group, one of the main aluminum companies in Romania, posted a net profit of RON 15.3 million in the first half of 2022, compared to a net loss of RON 47.5 million in the same period a year ago. The main reason was that the company focused more on value-added aluminum processing instead of energy-intensive aluminum production.

During the same period, Alro's revenues increased by 39% to RON 2.1 billion, mainly due to higher global demand for aluminum and improved LME aluminum prices.

The group will reduce its reliance on electricity by the investment in increasing the amount of molten metal from recycled scrap, raising the operational reliability of key equipment, as well as improving the energy efficiency of its equipment and technical processes.
