According to statistics from Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (USSA), Russia imported around 23,000 tons of stainless steel in June, dropping by 10.7% compared to the previous month.
Among them, the imports of hot-rolled stainless steel plate had a year-on-year decrease of 21%, and those of cold-rolled stainless steel sheets reduced by 7.4% year on year, with a total increase of 4.8% compared to the same month last year.
USSA said that Russian stainless steel importers would maintain their purchase volume at a high level before strikes for the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak.
The main reason for an expected drop in trade was due to a stronger Russian ruble, decreasing demand, and high inventories.
