The recent exportation of the steel pipes was still low as the impact of COVID-19 had not yet fully recovered, but it was totally a different story in the domestic market in Taiwan.

The performance of the sales of steel pipes in the domestic market was quite good, which was driven by the stronger demand as well as the continuous increasing prices of the raw materials, making a strong purchasing trend in July.

Some of the pipe manufacturers pointed out that due to the good demand in the construction and public developments, as well as raw materials prices increasing, the orders of steel pipes rose in July and it made the rising of pipes price in August.

In early August, some market participants were keeping wait-and-see; however, the price trend of steel pipes was still going up. Coupled with the recent rising price of international iron ore, there were no more wait-and-see conditions!
