In July, the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) had launched an investigation of anti-dumping (AD) involving Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Malaysia on the importation of silicon metal. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan had been investigated by a countervailing duty (CVD) issue.

According to the announcement of the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the officials had strong proof to those four countries, which did have dumping or subsidies and damaged the local industries as a result.

The USDOC stated that they would keep performing AD and CVD investigations on the product. The preliminary rulings were scheduled to be publicized in late September and early December respectively.
