South32, a mining and metals company headquartered in Australia, reported that the company’s alumina production reached 1.35 million tons in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025 (October-December 2024), rising by 14% from the previous quarter and by 4.9% from the same period a year ago.

Aluminum production in the period was 306,000 tons, a quarter-on-quarter hike of 3% and a year-on-year growth of 6.6%.

In the first half of the fiscal year 2025 (June-December 2024), South32’s alumina production amounted to 2.53 million tons, down by 1.6% year on year. Aluminum production reached 604,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5%.

The company maintained its production guidance for the 2025 fiscal year across all operations, with the exception of Mozal Aluminium, where the guidance was withdrawn in December last year due to civil unrest in Mozambique.
