According to statistics from Spanish Steel Association (UNESID), Spain produced 1.12 million tons of crude steel in April this year, hitting a new high over the past five months, but this figure was down by 14% year on year due to high energy prices.

During the period from April 2021 to April 2022, Spain’s crude steel output amounted to 14.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 17%.

Spain’s new electricity market rules of price caps on natural gas will take effect on June 15, which could cut energy costs by 15%.
