The European Commission's data showed that China's hot-dip galvanized quota for automobiles is now consumed by nearly 80%. Because of the recent increase in demand for European automobiles in September and October, imports of hot-dip galvanized steel from China increased.

The tight supply of hot-dip galvanized material has pushed domestic deliveries in Europe to January-February, with further delays expected as steel mills slowly built capacity at the end of the fourth quarter. Some automakers were forced to import from Asia with delivery times only slightly longer than European steel mills.
