US’ steel imports drop in Aug

According to statistics, the US imported around 1.3 million tons of steel in August, dropping by nearly 52% compared to the same month a year ago. The imports of finished steel products amounted to roughly 1.2 million tons in August, a year-on-year decrease of 13.9%.

Despite a 25% import tariff on most steel imports, the imported steel products accounted for approximately 17% of the total market share in the US market, and the proportion in the first eight months was around 19%.
