Alcoa extends negotiation period to Sep 28 for dismissal issue at San Ciprian aluminum refinery

It was reported that Alcoa reached an agreement with workforce representatives at Spanish San Ciprian aluminum refinery to extend the deadline of the formal negotiation period on dismissal issue to September 28, 2020, which has been approved by national and regional governments.

Liberty House Group, owned by British-based tycoon Sanjeev Gupta, has publicly said he intended to acquire San Ciprián aluminum smelter. Alcoa and workforce representatives will hold another negotiation meeting on September 28 to discuss collective dismissal and unemployment benefits if the sale agreement wasn’t reached on September 27.
