Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association (SASSDA) indicated that the South African local industry has the edge to provide African markets with competitive world-class stainless steel products.

In addition, SASSDA is also looking for opportunities to replace the galvanized metal manufacturing products with 3CR12, low-cost utility stainless steel with benefits of strength, corrosion and abrasion resistance, durability, and low maintenance.

SASSDA also tries to be a partnership with other enterprises to develop localization in industries such as food, beverage, and medical to increase stainless steel opportunities.

Over the past decades, stainless steel has maintained a steady annual compound global growth rate of 5.8%. Among them, South Africa remained stable at about 13% of global production.
